Xena and I were sitting in a village tavern when a man cam walking in and yelled "Message for Xena!" Xena took the scroll, un-rolled it, and gave her usual surprised look.

"What does it say?" I asked. Xena read,

"Khlara and Joxer would like to announce their marriage." I was shocked!

"Khlara and Joxer?! Married?! This is some kind of joke right?!" I asked. I couldn't believe it. The two hated each other. Now they wanted to get married?!

"We might as well as check it out." said Xena.

We went to Khlara's house. When we got there it seemed like the whole country was there. We saw Joxer and Khlara greeting some of the guests. We caught up to them.

"Xena! Gabrielle! I was afraid you couldn't make it. Thank you for coming." said Khlara.

"May I have a word with you Khlara? In private?" asked Xena. Xena and Khlara started walking off and Joxer went following but Khlara turned around and said "No love. Stay here and greet the others." She gave him a kiss on the cheek and they left. Xena and Khlara went into the house.

"Khlara, are you sure you want to marry Joxer? You two are complete opposites."

"Talk to him. I love him. Excuse me I have to go get a drink." said Khlara and she went up the stairs.

"Gabrielle talk to Joxer. I can't get anything out of Khlara." said Xena. So I went to talk to Joxer.

I found Joxer in what Khlara called a guest house. It was behind a large tree. I knocked on the door, but heard no answer so I walked in. I saw Joxer sitting on a chair holding his lyre looking at the mirror to the side of him. He looked tired.

"Hello." he said looking up at me.

"So your getting married." I said not knowing how to start the conversation. Luckily he started it for me.

"It was strange at first. I can't blame her though." said Joxer. I had never seen him like this before.

"Would you like to tell me the story?" I asked hoping it would cheer him up. Joxer looked at his lyre and told me, "It seemed so simple. Khlara was riding Grapes and I was playing her favorite song when she asked 'Joxer, you love me don't you?' I had never told her but it was true that I did love her. I confessed anyway that I did. Then she asked if I ever thought about marrying someone. I told her that I had never seriously thought about it. Being a "warrior" I could never really think about those things. Then she asked me what would I say if she asked me to marry her. I told her I would have to think about it. After three days I told her I would probably say yes. Then she asked me if I loved her enough to marry her. I said yes because I do." I asked the simplest question I could.

"Do you still love her as much?"

"Yes." Joxer answered that with so much confidence I was absolutely he was sure about it.

I told Xena everything I had heard from Joxer and she went inside Khlara's house to try again.

"Khlara tell me how this all happened." said Xena.

"It was simple. I asked if he loved me, if he ever thought about marriage and then if he would marry me. We had talked about this for months and he's always answered yes. We know what were doing Xena. I even asked Zeus, Aphrodite, Athena, my mother, my brother, and the Oracle at Delphi. They all said we were doing the right thing. The Oracle would never lie." said Khlara.

"What about Joxer's parents?" Xena asked.

"They've been dead for years." said Khlara lowering her head.

"All I want is your blessing. Nothing else." said Khlara "We love each other and we know it." Xena thought for a moment, smiled and said, "You have my blessing."

Later everyone was dressed for the ceremony. With a simple saying and a kiss Khlara and Joxer were married. They did look happy together.
