Today was not a good day for little Small Kitten. Her mother and father were not home when she woke up and her favorite food, egg sammich, was replaced with warm milk. Her skateboard broke in half and she ended up late for math. Small Kitten spent the morning sad. The afternoon found her with no money in her wallet, so there was no lunch. Her essay for political science turned out to cover the wrong topic and Big Puppy pushed her down in the hallway. She slept at the library missing Archaeology class and found that her sister was forcing her to mass. Small Kitten spent the afternoon mad. The evening found Small Kitten arguing with the ATM. It wouldn’t accept her card or her pin number. She finally screamed in frustration and kicked the machine. She broke a claw nail in the process. Today was not going well. Small Kitten wanted to know how she had ended up on a place called Bunny Planet. Last she looked she was arguing with the teller of Wells Fargo and – was that an egg sammich? A life-size brown bunny held a silver platter with an egg sammich on it. “For you, Madam.” The bunny butler said as he bowed. “This is great!” Small Kitten looked around Bunny Planet. “School has been called off because of the nice day.” Mother said as she walked out of a small cottage. “Come fishing with me Small!” Father called out. Small Kitten raced to the side of her father. They spent the whole afternoon fishing. In the evening, mother had baked a feast of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Small Kitten smiled, life was much better here on Bunny Planet. “Small, we’ve decided to stay here in this new house. You’ll always get enough to eat and the ATMs don’t need cards, only your smile.” Father announced. “And school?” Small asked. “School starts when you get there. It’s down the street.” Mother added. |
