Bad Weather
- Wendy Raimi

Xena and I were walking happily in the woods. It had been months since we had seen Khlara or Joxer and we were happy for not seeing Joxer. I had missed Khlara though. I guess for Xena it was easy for her not to miss Khlara. I didn't understand Khlara.

"Xena, will we ever see Khlara again?" I asked.

"If you want I'll call her." said Xena. I had little idea what she was saying but answered,

"I'd like that." Xena yelled out,

"Oh great goddess of weather hear my cry! Come forth for us to see and bid you well!" We heard a war cry and I started getting into a war pose but Xena kept me from it. Khlara jumped from a tree and landed in front of us. then called out "Grapes!" Joxer and Grapes came walking out.

"Did you have to bring Joxer?" I asked.

"Yes. Xena I don't want him!" Khlara cried. "He's all wimpy and tries to tell me he's better than you." Khlara explained while climbing a tree.

"We don't want him either!" I yelled. Khlara sat on a middle branch.

"I thought you liked me Khlara!" yelled Joxer.

"I lied! No one could like you! Your annoying!" Khlara yelled back at Joxer. She started climbing down the tree. "I'm not annoying." said Joxer. Khlara jumped the rest of the way down and landed in front of Joxer startling him. "You are too." said Khlara.

"Your just saying that because you love me." said Joxer.

"You act like a little kid. You argue with everything and you don't follow orders." answered Khlara.

"I'm a warrior." said Joxer bravely.

"You play the lyre." said Khlara. "And you play it well. Go into the music business. Play for party's. Hey why not just play for Zeus." said Khlara sarcastically.

"Do you think I could?!" asked Joxer eagerly.

"Why don't you go practice in Athens." said Khlara. Joxer went off to who knows what.

"What do you think he'll do?" I asked.

"Practice in Athens?" asked Khlara.

Xena just started walking and smiling.

We finally came to a village where all the people were standing in a circle. Khlara and Xena ran up ahead.

"What's wrong?" asked Khlara when I finally caught up.

"We have prayed and offered in so many different ways to the weather god that this is out last chance." answered a villager.

"Do you think that possibly it could be a goddess?" asked Khlara.

"Why the weather goddess is..." but Xena wouldn't let me finish she covered my mouth with her hand and said "Why the weather goddess needs to know what kind of weather you need."

"Rain." a couple people cried out.

"Get me a pot and all the water you have." said Khlara, "I will make the offering."

"But we only have a cupful of water left." said the villager.

"Get it or it will be too late." said Khlara kneeling on the ground and making shapes with the dirt. The villagers went and got what Khlara asked for and sat it down beside her. Khlara made a circle around the pot then dumped the water in the pot. She put a wavy line all around the pot. Then she yelled

"Hannah, Hannah, Lee-way, rain!" Then she threw the pot with the water in the wavy circle. Nothing happened. "You wasted out water! That was the last we had. Now we'll all die!" yelled a villager.

"Wait." whispered Khlara. All of a sudden the sky got dark. There was a crash and it sounded like thunder and lighting. All of a sudden it started pouring. People ran inside getting their pots and cups and putting them outside. "Thank you!" said the villager.

"In order to always have rain you must make a wavy circle and then kneel in it. Put your hands flat against each other then say `I make this offering to the weather goddess for all that we have is her's.' Dump a cupful of water into the circle and the weather goddess shall hear you." said Khlara.

After Khlara said that she and Grapes walked off.
